This week, I received a question from someone asking what music I like and who is my favorite band. So, I thought I would do a quick post answering their question.
I grew up in a household that I would say was a “Rock & Roll” household. Both of my parents have (in my opinion) the best taste in music. I grew up listening to Pink Floyd, Bruce Springsteen, The Cure, U2, Alice in Chains, Aimee Mann, etc. So, naturally I gravitated towards rock and roll. Unlike my parents though, I definitely would say I latched onto heavier rock.
Now, I will listen to really anything if I find it to be a good beat and find some sort of connection. However, my musical love is rock and roll. For me rock and roll was always the music that seemed to connect directly to my emotions and always found a way to release them in constructive way. So, I guess it was and is still at times like a form of therapy for me. When I’m really mad or frustrated, I will put on something angry and heavy. When I’m sad, something slow and sad. For me there is always a song that correlates to what I am feeling.
Currently, the top bands I am consistently listening to are the following:
- Five Finger Death Punch
- In This Moment
- Red Sun Rising
Some of my other favorite bands and musicians that are in my playlist are as follows:
- Lynyrd Skynyrd
- Jimi Hendrix
- Led Zeppelin
- Bruce Springsteen
- Alice in Chains
- Smashing Pumpkins
- Hell Yeah
- Rage Against the Machine
- Whiskey Myers
My favorite band though is hands down Shinedown.
You may know some of their most famous songs like “Simple Man”, “45” and “Fly From The Inside” and “Second Chance”. I have been a fan of theirs since they first came out. I have seen them multiple times over the years. I grew up listening to them. Shinedown’s music was the music I put on when I was going through the most difficult and the most wonderful years and moments of my life. I love how they continue to evolve and never seem to do the same thing twice. A true rock and roll band in my opinion and are absolutely worth checking out if you have not yet!
Well, I hope this in a small measure helps paint a better picture of who I am for you.
I am always willing to answer your questions, so please never hesitate to reach out!
